Modern medicine loves to look at Hippocrates as the father of mainstream orthodox medicine, but he would have shuddered at what it has become. The focus has shifted from putting the care of the patient first, to putting the making of money as the most important factor. Our standard medicine does not look for the cause of the disease or condition, but only on how to suppress it with drugs, in affect harnessing the problem, which will only lead to more serious and costly issues later on. This system of greed is why so many don't get proper care and oftentimes feel hopeless. This ongoing study guide will seek to educate one on making the right choices now, so they can avoid that system in the future. Its how to truly be healthy, and to be in the best shape of your life both internally and externally. It starts though with you, and your realization that you have to be active in your diet and what you do. That requires personally accountability and discipline, but the payoff is well worth it. Once you adjust to your new commitment following through will become much easier.
Having studied nutrition over the years I will have to admit that this topic was one of the most complex and challenging. One reason is the countless and opposing views on what we should eat and our diet. One will say that the best diet is vegetarian, one will say meat eating in moderation, one will say low protein, one says low carbs, how is one to know? One diet says that if I am a certain blood type I should not eat these fruits, or this vegetable. You will hear all sorts of conflicting reports of people having a great response with this diet or someone living long on this diet. How does one sort through all of this and know what is the diet that their body needs? Ah ha. Did you catch it? That was the first clue. The question one has to ask is "what should I be eating?" Not your friend, or your neighbor but you. One of the first steps one takes is realizing that your body is different and had different needs and requirements than others. There is no one size fits all diet. This is a important thing for people to realize, if you are to lose that weight or to recover from some ailment and just to have good health. Understanding that people have different molecular needs can really help to get someone on the right track. Knowing your own molecular needs will help you to achieve optimal health.
This is an ongoing study guide made for the average and experienced alike, and is designed to help one make the right decisions for themselves and their family nutritionally; what to avoid that can harm your health, and helping one to achieve optimal health. We will discuss a wide range of important topics, and intertwine them in together so that one is able to be informed enough to maintain proper health standards.

Understanding what your body needs specifically as it relates to proteins fats and carbohydrates is extremely important to the health of the individual. An imbalance, especially if its drastic can lead or contribute to a host of problems including metabolic syndrome, diabetes, heart disease and even cancers. Although the further breakdown of what we need is important, especially since most lack many of both the trace and major nutrients, our first focus will be on what is simple and foundational, and then I will build on that.
One of the most important tests that can be done to find out what is the right diet for you is called Metabolic Typing. You can find out for free by taking the test here. http://nutritionaltyping.mercola.com/
This test is something that many of the holistic doctors are now starting to use and even some maiinstream MDs are using it due to its effectiveness and simplicity, coupled with common sense. Metabolic typing has had some tremendous success in treating the person as a whole, and in some cases such as diabetes is integral. Metabolic Typing also teaches to pay attention to your body, paying special attention to how you feel after eating meals and even in general. One often overlooked source of valuable data comes from the person itself, as most doctors do not know how to listen to their patient. Proper care always considers the patients input, and in fact seeks it out as a major source of information in regards to how progress is coming along. Metabolic typing helps determine what your body needs. Some are considered protein types. These need more protein and fats than others, and too much carbohydrates, especially simple forms leads to problems for these. You have the carbs types who do not need as much protein and fats, and do well on a higher carb diet in the form of mostly vegetables. If they consume too much fat or protein than they tend to develop certain problems. Most fall into one of those two categories, however some fall somewhere in between. It is important thing to mention that these are guidelines, and don't constitute neglect by minimalizing consumption of the other nutrients that are needed in smaller quantities.

Organic or not?
Organic is a term that is used to reflect the way a vegetable is grown; too be more specific it means to have used no synthetic or man made chemical fertilizers, no pesticides or herbicides. The fertilizers instead come from composts, different types of manures, certain pulverized rocks and other natural ingredients. As well no man made chemical pesticides at all are used, and only plant based all natural bug deterrence/killer sprays are allowed. No herbicides are allowed to be used as well. Just taking a step to eat organic as much as possible is one of the biggest steps to eating right and achieving a optimal healthy state. It is well known that there quite a high number of different pesticides and chemicals that adversely affect our health that we consume on a regular basis through non organic conventional vegetables and grains. Many samples tested of these chemical fertilizers contained significant levels of heavy metals that the plant uptakes into its tissues and are consumed later on after cooking. Some of these toxins are very dangerous, and thus its important to eat as natural and free of these toxin containing fertilizers as much as possible, and one of the best ways to do that is to eat organic. Bear in mind that if you run across farmers that are not certified organic, but they practice organic or higher standards I would by all means support them by purchasing from them. The organic label has of course has big business stamped all over it, so one still needs to shop wisely. The goal is not the label or name organic, it is to have fresh toxin free nutritious foods. If you do your homework usually one can eat this way. Ultimately, if possible I would recommend looking for good quality heirloom seeds and grow your own organic fruits and vegetables, and herbs, enough to be self sufficient at least for the produce.
